Washington Park, Oak Bluffs
Thanks to the generosity and support of so many, the 20th anniversary of the Sullivan Run/Walk raised over $26,000 to for our Island hospital. With more than 280 registered participants and a new course record of 16:43 set by Jonevan Hornsby, it was a fun, healthy and inspiring way to start the day!
Join us again on Saturday, August 22, 2009 for the 21st race to benefit MVH.
This is a great end-of-summer event for the whole family, from toddlers to grandparents. There's a Kid's Fun Run for children 10 and under, with prizes for all. Adult and young adult racers may run or walk the US Track and Field Association Certified 5K course around the East Chop bluffs, with a spectacular view of Vineyard Sound.
The run/walk is named for its founder, Dr. Louis W. Sullivan, who was Secretary of Health and Human Services in the administration of the President George H.W. Bush, 1989-1993.Begun two decades ago to promote Dr. and Mrs. Sullivan's belief in the health benefits of daily exercise, the Run/Walk has become a much anticipated event, and with the Sullivan's generous support, has raised nearly $200,000 for the Hospital.
