HEALTH CARE REFORM

Health Care Reform:
State Mandated Universal
Health Care Coverage

In April 2006, landmark legislation was passed in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts which will provide for universal health care coverage for all state residents. This law mandates that everyone in the state have some form of insurance by July 1, 2007.

A central part of the plan is the provision of government-funded subsidies to low-income individuals to assist with the purchase of health insurance through the Commonwealth Care Health Insurance Program.
